On Thursday 1st December, Year 12 Media students took a trip to London to develop their photography skills. Students managed to capture real life situations, as well as famous landmarks such as Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. Students visited different areas of London such as Camden Town, Covent Garden and Westminster/Embankment to capture the various sights the capital had to offer.
From 11 – 1 9 October, a small group of Year 10, 11 and 12 students went on the very first Walton High French exchange to Besançon, France. What a great experience! The first exchange between two schools is always difficult but with the students’ enthusiasm and the teachers’ support on both the French and English sides, the first exchange between Walton High and Lycée Pergaud was a success. We had some great experiences in the Franche-Comté region - from lessons at school to visiting ancient citadels on hills. We were given a wonderful opportunity to have a real taste of French life.
Many congratulations to Nicole Abel (YR8) who recently took part in a National Figure Skating competition in Oxford finishing in third place - just three points behind the gold medallist.
She performed a routine to Nero’s “Two Steps From Hell” and was very pleased with her bronze medal which she described as “pretty good”!
Well done Nicole.
Our third Spanish exchange programme at WH has been the most successful so far. This is what we had hoped this experience would become when we started it in June 2014. It’s thanks to the dedication of parents and students in both countries that has made this programme what it is today. An opportunity to spend time with exchange partners has led to a new approach and motivation to learn languages, enabling students in both countries to use their classroom knowledge in real-life settings.
