Italy trip

IMG 9714Another first for Walton High this year, the school ran its first ever Sports Tour to Lake Garda, Italy during the Easter Holidays. On Sunday 9 April, 6 staff and 57 students arrived ready to spend a week in Italy.  At 16:15, the brand new double decker tour bus was fully packed and we got a lovely send off from the large gathering of parents wanting to wave good bye to their sons and daughters.

The journey took 23 hours arriving at the Hotel Jolanda in Lake Garda at 15:45 on Monday 10 April, The scenery through France, Switzerland and Italy was fantastic and students gazed over the vast lakes and mountains. Little did they know about the amazing views yet to behold on this trip…

MKET Performs Disney!

MKETPerforms2017b

Wednesday 26 April saw the  annual Celebration of the Performing Arts across the Milton Keynes Education Trust. In front of a warm supportive audience the four Trust schools, New Chapter, Heronsgate, Kents Hill and Walton High produced a spectacular show, truly celebrating the work of Disney.

Kents Hill produced a memorable and spine tingling performance of Little Mermaid Medley, Heronsgate roused us with energy and vive in performances from Mary Poppins whist New Chapter produced a roaring rendition of the Lion King.

Walton High gave performances with the Pop Choir giving a Disney Medley and Post 16 singing Shadowlands and the Rock Challenge cast delivering their act from their recent success. There were many memorable solos from Aladdin to 101 Dalmatians.

The evening really celebrated the talents of the pupils and students from across the Trust and ended with a grand finale of Life’s a Happy Song together with some Disney Magic. Our thanks to all the staff for their hard work in putting on the tremendous show.

Media Students Support Local Charity with Promotional Film

mediamkcitizenWalton High Post 16 Media students were lucky enough to be asked by David Kelly to create a promotional film for his charity, A Way With Pain. The class collaborated to produce the film and we relished the chance to work with actress, Sian Reeves, who provided the voiceover for the media commission.

We used the school’s facilities, such as The Venue, lighting desk and the recording studio to create the film and soundtrack. Then we mixed the components together for the final edit. Our media class screened the film to David and Sian; the feedback received was hugely positive and the video can be located on the charity website www.awaywithpain.co.uk.

This was a fantastic experience for our class; having the chance to apply what we have learned in a truly vocational experience was brilliant and we learnt a lot about how to work with a professional client in the media industry.
