poetrygames

Congratulation to our students Ava, Leilah, Jessica, Olivia, Joshua, Genevieve, Kaci, Brijesh, Alex, Mihai, Kelda-Emma, Aria, Mohsen and Sampurna who took part in ‘The Poetry Games,’ a competition run by Young Writers.

Students were encouraged to voice their opinions on a passion of theirs and to be inspired by something or someone that really matters to them. They were encouraged to write in any style and be creative with language, with the aim of delivering a powerful, passionate poem.

They will now see their work published. A big well done!

collagesci club1819Our KS3 Science Club runs on Wednesday 3.15-4.15pm at Walnut Tree (Lab J) and Brooklands (S7.) So far students have been making ‘fizzing rainbows’ and a ‘marble run.’

Next week they’ll be looking at the effect of sports drinks on heart rate.

Students are welcome to come along and join in the fun! For more information please speak to Mr Aston (Science enrichment.)

collageks4evening1819Thank you to the many parents that attended the ‘Welcome to KS4 Evenings’ held at Walnut Tree and Brooklands last week.  The turnout was fantastic and those parents that came enjoyed an interesting, informative and entertaining presentation on the transition of students into KS4.  I am sure those students whose parents attended will be able to benefit from their support as they go forward with their studies in KS4.

The presentation can be found here

Thank you to those parents who attended our Year 7 Parents Maths Evenings.

The presentation explained the maths curriculum in Year 7 and how it extends on work that students have covered in their previous school. Advice was also on offer on how parents can support their child at home and online resources were demonstrated.
