Drama
Curriculum Intent
At the heart of the Drama curriculum is the belief in unlocking extraordinary potential – fuelling creativity, confidence and individuality through expressive performance and the dramatic process. We aim to inspire students to explore who they are, connect with others and discover their unique voice through the power of theatre.
Through a broad and ambitious curriculum, students learn a diverse range of dramatic forms, styles and theatrical traditions. They develop skills in performance, devising, directing and design while also engaging in the analysis and evaluation of live theatre and scripted work. Theoretical understanding is combined with practical exploration, empowering students to become thoughtful, articulate and reflective theatre practitioners themselves.
Drama offers a place to belong; a safe, collaborative space where students feel seen, supported and valued as part of an ensemble. Through shared experiences on and off stage, students feel able to take creative risks and explore through voice, physicality and design.
Our curriculum enables all students to achieve – whether through high-quality practical work, thoughtful written responses or performance opportunities for all students. Drama helps students develop key skills in communication, creativity and collaboration; preparing them not only for academic success but also for future pathways and the wider world.
