Duke of Edinburgh's Award - Year 9 & Above

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a life-changing experience. An opportunity to have fun with friends. A chance to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement. Students gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication.

There are four sections to complete. Volunteering. Helping the community/environment. Physical. Becoming fitter and healthier. Skill. Developing competence, earning a qualification. Expedition. Completing a 2-day expedition in the local area.

The Bronze Award is open to all students’ Year 9 and above. The Silver is open to Year 12 students and those who complete the Bronze.

The closing date for applications and payment is 17 October 2025.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a registered charity, funded by donations, participation places and licences. Walton High is one of those Licenced Organizations run by our Manager Mr Morgan, who spends equal time at both campuses.

Students' Access to DofE

The DofE manager has a Drop in at Student Services in Brooklands and in the Eco Shed at Walnut Tree. They can be accessed at break time, lunch time and after school. There are also regular sign up and training sessions.

  • Complete and submit the booking form
  • Pay the fee on Arbor Pay - £85 (Pupil Premium students are free)

Silver Award

  • Complete and submit the booking form
  • Pay the fee on Arbor Pay - £255
    • Fee - includes practice expedition
    • Fee - excludes qualifying expedition (£145)

We are a Multi-Academy Trust that serves the young people of west Milton Keynes, currently comprising of three secondary schools; The Hazeley Academy, Shenley Brook End School and Walton High and three primary schools; Priory Rise School, Emerson Valley School and Merebrook Infant School.
