Curriculum Intent

It is the intent of the History Department at Walton High that, through the study of History students

Understand the diverse and complex world in which they live through making links between past and modern events, drawing parallels and identifying patterns in events across the broad span of History
Have their imagination captivated
Develop as critical thinkers with enquiring minds
Become literate
Are able to make inferences and interpret information
Appreciate core concepts such as cause, consequence, change and continuity
Have a clear chronological framework from which they can place their knowledge
Have a breadth of knowledge of different time periods and countries
Develop emotional maturity and the ability to reflect not only on sensitive subject matter but also on their own learning
Are challenged and inspired with a ’ love of learning in the broadest sense

We are a Multi-Academy Trust that serves the young people of west Milton Keynes, currently comprising of three secondary schools; The Hazeley Academy, Shenley Brook End School and Walton High and three primary schools; Priory Rise School, Emerson Valley School and Merebrook Infant School.
