Congratulations to Charley in Year 10 who won his first major title at the Glasgow Birthday Festival, which is a National event for Team Gym. Charley has been training with Team Gym for around a year and was selected to go to Glasgow as part of a team of eight. Together the team won the “Best Newcomers” trophy!

Each Gymnast had to perform three pieces – track (tumbling), a floor routine and skills on a trampette. Charley beat off fifty other competitors to finish first in the tumbling event. He performed a series of three complex moves in sequence, his best being a full twisting front step-out, handspring and pike front full out. The win left him feeling “shocked and overjoyed, “with him also saying that it was well beyond what he expected.

His next competition will be in March at the Southern Regionals in the UK. In June, he is also going to an International event in Portugal to compete with Team Gym.

A big well done Charley!
