On Wednesday 17 January the BBC and a team from MK21 visited Walton High to record a Road Safety Demonstration for BBC Look East. The demonstration involved five of our students wearing a virtual reality headpiece to demonstrate the risks involved in crossing a main road whilst using a mobile phone. The BBC wanted to record the students’ reactions to the video and gathered their thoughts afterwards. Our students expressed what they witnessed, how they felt and what they learnt with confidence and in an incredibly articulate way – not an easy task when the BBC are asking you questions on the spot!
There was a very important message taken from the demonstration and it is one that we would like to repeat to our students, as we have done on regular occasions. It is so important that you are aware of your surroundings when walking along a road. Don’t be distracted by your phone and always stay alert.
At present, we don’t have an official airing date, but if you visit the website and our social media pages over the coming few days and weeks we will broadcast the date and time so you can tune in and watch our students shine.
