On Tuesday 17 July the students from year 11 had their “Class of 2018 Prom” at Wilton Hall, Bletchley. The evening kicked off at 7pm with students arriving in a variety of flashy, classic and understated chauffeur driven carriages all aiming to try and win the Best Entrance award for the evening. Girls were all attired in some lovely ball gowns and sleek dresses, showing how mature our students have grown up to be in their time at Walton High. The gents certainly impressed with their array of jackets, suits, tuxes and blazers, with the occasional all red suit, and even including some funky accessories and canes. Of course there were those who arrived fashionably late and in style. Students started the evening with welcome drinks and later enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner with deserts.
The evening awards were voted on during dinner and were the highlight of the night with students voting on Prom king and Queen; Best Dressed, Best Hair and Best Entrance. I was humbled when students certainly showed their appreciation to me for organising the evening with a rousing and heartfelt round of applause at the start of the awards presentation.
Alicia Burton and Alex Kareclas-Wathen came away with Prom Queen and King which they certainly appreciated as they wore their sashes all night. Students undoubtedly showed their best dance moves with the dance floor packed from 9.30 until the end of the night. The night’s festivities ended at 11.10pm with all students safely getting picked up by midnight. It was great to see the year 11 students enjoy themselves and they certainly represented Walton High impressively on the night. Thanks to all the staff who came and supported the event, making it a very successful farewell to the class of 2018.
