year7rounderssucess1819Our Year 7 girls recently took part in the MK School Rounders Tournament at Shenley Brook End School. The team had played very well in previous fixtures so hope for success was very high within the squad.

We had four teams in our pool. The first game was against Radcliffe who we beat by scoring a brilliant 8 rounders in a 15 ball game. We then went on to play Shenley Brook End. Megan B and Ella organised the fielders magnificently from their bowling and backstop positions. Whole rounders from Falak and Megan T helped to secure the girls their second win. The final group game was against Kents Hill Park. Unfortunately the girls didn’t perform as well in this game and lost by just one rounder.

After a short wait the team were told they had come joint first in their group but progressed through to the final as they had scored more rounders that the other top placed team.

In the Final, the girls were up against Lord Grey who had previously beaten them in a league fixture this year. However this did not phase our girls at all and they went in with high confidence and a new game plan derived by Fatma. Our girls batted first and rounders from Anusha and Megan T meant that the girls scored a total of 4 rounders. The team then had to field and try to stop Lord Grey from scoring. The team worked together brilliantly. Ella put in a solid performance on 4th base and with help from Livia (in a deep fielding position) the girls were able to prevent Lord Grey scoring on multiple occasions and so went on to win 4-3.

This YR7 team were absolutely superb. They never gave up and worked brilliantly as a team. They encouraged each other throughout and every single person played a major part in the success.

The team were Ella, Holly, Livia, Anusha, Alana, Megan B, Abbie, Fatma, Megan T and Falak.
