Our Post 16 Computer Science/IT students had yet another great opportunity given to them at the @Google careers event which was well represented by famous leading IT and Tech multinational companies.
They had in-depth conversations with representatives from top technology employers, the recruitment team and current apprentices, and took part in interactive sessions, all aimed to help kick-start their career after sixth form. Apprenticeships provided by partner companies at the event covered areas such as software development, digital marketing, IT technician, project management, digital technology solutions and infrastructure technology.
The employability networking event enabled our students to get first-hand information from recruiters on what their apprenticeships involve, advice on application processes, and useful hints and tips that they can’t find online. Apprenticeship managers were impressed by our students’ questions.
Attending this event also held advantages for students as it may enable their application to be fast tracked through an event partner’s application process.
Students had this to say about the trip:
“I found the day very useful, lots of companies provided useful information, and I feel more confident choosing one of them now.”- Samuel Ritschel
"It was an enlightening experience that helped me to look at other options outside of university and it has given me more options for further education." –Ashraf Said
“After realising the benefits of attending this event, I am more open to apprenticeships. Today has been very informative. An amazing experience"- Minhaj Ali
“Valuable, Useful. Further appealed to me”- Harry Daniels
By attending @Google IT careers event our students already proved that they were the type of students event partners are looking for. They have already secured express invites to future IT events. -Ms Edike
