Beauty and the beastAudiences young and old were left completely enchanted by Walton High's portrayal of the classic story, the biggest production yet stage in The Venue.

Costumes and set were provided on hire by UK productions, who professionally toured the same costumes and set around the world for over 5 years. The shows Lighting was designed by Paul Need of Ten out of Ten productions, a close friend of Walton High and The Venue who we thank deeply for his help and support. 

The narrator sets the scene telling us of the cursed Beast, roaring his grief and anger at the beautiful enchantress flying across the stage. From beginning to end the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast amazed me with their professional and stellar performance. The hours spent in rehearsal have not been in vain and the students’ commitment really shines through from the enthusiastic chorus line to the spectacular visual and sound effects, flawless set changes and utterly convincing performances of the main characters. The ‘Be Our Guest’ song was a particular highlight, the co-ordinated choreography alone was impressive to have so many students on stage and dancing, but the singing absolutely brought the house down. Each and every student really put their hearts into the performance and the enjoyment of the audience was easy to see. I’d be going back for more if it wasn’t sold out!

On 29th January 2013, Year 13 history students took part in a Holocaust ALD to support their study of anti-Semitism. The day began with an educator from the Holocaust Education Trust, Mary Mihovilovic teaching students about life in the concentration and extermination camps. Students were able to analyse survivor testimony in depth, and also got the opportunity to look at the photos from the Auschwitz Album. This provided students with an increased awareness of the difficulties of using evidence when looking at a topic such as the Holocaust
